How to find all Wooded Kingdom power moons
Our power moons guide puts the collectibles in the same order as Super Mario Odyssey. We’ll cover how to get the first 48, which can be attained after beating all the bosses in your first visit. Power moon #18 as well as the others can only be gained after visiting other levels and beating the game first. Bookmark this page for future updates to this guide.
1. ROAD TO SKY GARDEN
You’ll get this one by defeating a big Piranha Plant as your beat your first quest in Wooded Kingdom. Either throw a rock at the plant or Cappy to distract it and then you can jump on it to defeat it.
2. FLOWER THIEVES OF SKY GARDEN
You receive this multi moon for defeating the Broodal boss of Wooded Kingdom.
3. PATH TO THE SECRET FLOWER FIELD
You will get this moon by making your way toward this kingdom’s second boss.
4. DEFEND THE SECRET FLOWER FIELD!
You’ll get this multi moon by taking out the second boss in this kingdom. To easily defeat it, make sure to look at the small gaps in the shadows of the blocks it lays down. Position yourself in the center and then extend your legs as the Uproot you’ve captured. Once you destroy its defenses, stand under the center of the boss and extend your legs to attack it. Do this three times to gain this multi moon.
5. BEHIND THE ROCK WALL
If you go to the area above the Goombas near the Forest Charging Station warp point, you’ll find a huge rock wall and a Sherm. Capture it and shoot the top left of the rock wall to reveal this moon.
6. BACK WAY UP THE MOUNTAIN
Head to the Iron Mountain Path Station 8 warp point and jump over the metal fence to reach the area with the gray blocks and an Uproot. Capture it and destroy the blocks picture to reveal a path. Enter the pipe and at the end of the 8-bit area will be your moon.
7. ROLLING ROCK IN THE WOODS
In the woods near the Odyssey, you’ll see a rabbit. Near the rabbit is a glowing rock. Hit it with Cappy a few times to reveal this moon.
8. CAUGHT HOPPING IN THE FOREST!
You’ll find this cute rabbit in a hat in the starting area. Chase it around and hit it with Cappy to stop it and to grab its power moon.
9. THANKS FOR THE CHARGE!
After beating the Broodal boss, the area previously covered in poison will have Sherm tanks for you to capture. Grab one and blast through the stone wall on your left. Inside, you’ll find a pot and a robot who will give you a seed. Grab that seed, toss it into the pot and climb the plant to the top. That’ll give you access to the Forest Charging Station warp point. Around the corner, you’ll see a few charging stations for the robots. On the right, ground pound the glowing station and receive a moon.
10. ATOP A TALL TREE
To the east of the starting area near the Odyssey is an elevated forest area filled with tall trees and Uproot enemies. You can reach it a handful of ways, but the easiest is warping to the Summit Path area, heading south and dropping down. Then, you must capture an Uproot and make your way to the tree at the southeast area of the forest. Hop up the small platforms and you’ll find a nut up there to crack for the moon.
11. TUCKED AWAY INSIDE A TUNNEL
Head to the small plateau to the east of the Odyssey where there is a running river and some Uproot enemies. Capture one and follow the source of the water. You’ll reach an area with a Hammer Bro at the end of the flow of water. Above it is a metal platform you can reach if you extend to your max height with the Uproot. (Shake your controller to go higher.) Dodge attacks from the Hammer Bro, extend then jump out of the Uproot to reach the nut hiding this moon.
12. OVER THE CLIFF’S EDGE
Warp over to the Summit Path area and drop below to where the Sherm tank is. Around the corner to the southeast you’ll find a pathway you can take. From there, move across the various ledges until find a door. Inside, you’ll find a handful of bars you can swing from. Keep moving across those until you reach the are with the nut and your power moon.
13. THE NUT ‘ROUND THE CORNER
Just southwest of the lake near the Iron Path: Entrance warp point, is an area with two Uproots. Capture one and walk around the narrow walkway so you loop around the corner of the structure. Right past the area with the crumbling blocks will a nut hiding this power moon.
14. CLIMB THE CLIFF TO GET THE NUT
There’s a much faster way to get this moon that requires no climbing. Teleport to the Iron Mountain Path, Station 8 warp point. Directly ahead of you is an area where you can jump over the metal fence where an Uproot is. Instead of capturing it to destroy the blocks in that area, walk toward the gap in the fence where the above yellow pole appears. Walk off the platform and fall directly below to are where the pole is and then fall again directly below this yellow poll. You’ll land right next to the nut where this moon is and won’t have to do the intended climbing area to get to it.
15. THE NUT IN THE RED MAZE
After encountering the Uproots enemy for the first time, you’ll be led into a short maze through a handful of movable platforms and gray bricks. Instead of following the path to the left to exit, keeping heading up and to the right. Break the nut with your Uproot’s head and you’ll get this moon.
16. THE NUT AT THE DEAD END
In the area where you defeated the big piranha plant to unlock the P-Switch to Sky Garden, there is a gap in the fence to the right. If you drop down and capture an Uproot there, you can follow the path around to a nut that has this power moon.
17. CRACKED NUT ON A CRUMBLING TOWER
After activating the P-Switch that opens up after beating the large Piranha Plant, you’ll be led across a path made of flowers. From there, you’ll reach a tower via a crumbling path. On top, you’ll find another P-Switch that helps you move forward and a nut containing this moon.
18. The Nut that Grew on the Tall Fence
Warp to Iron Mountain Path, Station 8, and jump over the railing next to the flag. Throw Cappy and dive toward it (hit Y in the air, then ZL, then hold Y) so that you land on the platform ahead of you (and pictured above). Fall off of the far side of the platform, and turn around to find the nut. Jump and break it for this power moon.
19. FIRE IN THE CAVE
After warping to Iron Road: Entrance, head forward to the entrance that’s directly behind the rising platform in front of you. Past that entrance is a room with a scarecrow in front. Toss Cappy at it to enter the room behind it with a Fire Bro. You’ll have to defeat it without Cappy to get the power moon.
20. HEY OUT THERE, CAPTAIN TOAD!
Warp over to the Observation Deck (or head over to Iron Mountain Path, Station 8, then walk up the incline, hit the P-Switch then make your way up the platforms to unlock this warp) and capture the Glydon up there to reach this platform to the far east where Captain Toad is hanging out with a power moon.
21. LOVE IN THE FOREST RUINS
Adjacent to the Forest Charging Station warp point is an area with a handful of Goombas. Capture one and use the platform in the center of the area to stack them all up. Once you’ve gotten them all, head over to the female Goomba and grab this moon.
22. INSIDE THE ROCK IN THE FOREST
You may have noticed some breakable bricks in the starting area near the Odyssey. To break it and get the moon inside, head over to the Forest Charging Station warp area. Head to the adjacent area that has the Sherm tank. From there, you can drop off the side of the area you are in to make your way back to the starting area. Get your Sherm there, shoot the bricks and get your moon.
23. SHOPPING IN STEAM GARDENS
Buy this one from the Crazy Cap shop near the Odyssey for 100 coins.
24. NUT PLANTED IN THE TOWER
In the tower that contains the P-Switches and the growing flower path that leads up to Sky Garden is this power moon. After hitting the second P-Switch, there will be a small alcove before the top of the tower with a nut containing this moon.
25. STRETCHING YOUR LEGS
In the tower leading to Sky Garden, at the very top, you’ll notice a shadow in the center of the circular part of the platform. Stretch your legs as an Uproot enemy and you’ll be able to reach this moon.
26. SPINNING-PLATFORMS TREASURE
While this one normally takes a bit of fancy footwork to get, there’s a much faster and easier way to get it. If you warp the Observation Deck, you can capture the Glydon up there and float directly to the warp pipe pictured. Simply run of the east end of the platform and float down. Turn around so you’re facing the structure you fell from and you’ll see this pipe below. Enter it and your moon will be inside a nut.
27. MAKE THE SECRET FLOWER FIELD BLOOM
After defeating the boss at the secret flower field, you can head back their to grab a moon. Simple use your spinning Cappy throw move to make these three circular patches of flowers bloom and your moon will appear.
28. ROLLING ROCK IN THE DEEP WOODS
Near the edge of the map and along the path in the Deep Woods, you’ll find an unassuming rock. Throw Cappy at it and it’ll start glowing. Hit it a few times and eventually, a moon will pop out.
29. GLOWING IN THE DEEP WOODS
For this timed challenge, you need to throw Cappy at this scarecrow you’ll find near the river. If you are facing away from the river, all you need to do is run uphill and you’ll find the platform with the moon. We recommended repeated long jumps to get up the hill as fast as you can to get the moon before it goes away.
30. PAST THE PECULIAR PIPES
At the top of the hill in the Deep Woods, you’ll find a warp pipe … which leads to more warp pipes. Unfortunately, the path through this puzzle of pipes is random, so through trial and error, you’ll eventually find the right warp pipe that gets you to a moon.
31. BY THE BABBLING BROOK IN THE DEEP WOODS
For this one, capture the T. rex and run up to the mouth of the river. Once there, head left and you’ll see some blocks you can break with the dinosaur. Once destroyed, you’ll find some glowing ground you can ground pound for a moon.
32. THE HARD ROCK IN DEEP WOODS
Near the bottom of the Deep Woods, you’ll see some hard rocks near one of the beanstalks. Break the rocks with the T. rex to reveal an area you can ground pound for a moon.
33. A TREASURE MADE OF COINS
This one might take some time, depending on how many coins you have. To get this moon, find the invisible Coin Coffer that hangs out just south of the warp pipe on the far wall in the Deep Woods. After you’ve captured it, find a little plant surrounded by coins located in the middle of the river. Begin firing coins from the Coin Coffer at it until it produces a moon. If you run out of coins, you can always capture another Coin Coffer or find the glowing spots in the woods that give you coins when you ground pound them.
34. BENEATH THE ROOTS OF A MOVING TREE
In the Deep Woods, you’ll find an area along the wall with a few steps that lead to a lone tree. Capture it and move it away from the wall to reveal a moon.
35. DEEP WOODS TREASURE TRAP
In the Deep Woods, you’ll find a massive tree with a warp pipe in it. You’ll need to open the three treasure chests in a specific order to unlock a moon, or else mummy enemies will come after you. Open the middle, left then right to get your moon.
36. EXPLORING FOR TREASURE
At the mouth of the river in the Deep Woods is a robot guarding a door under a waterfall. If you’re wearing the Explorer Hat and Explorer Outfit, it’ll open the door and give you access to a moon.
37. WOODED KINGDOM TIMER CHALLENGE 1
Right next to the Iron Path: Halfway Point warp point is a scarecrow that will unlock this challenge. Just swing on the bars, making sure to wall jump at the halfway point to make it to the top and grab this moon.
38. WOODED KINGDOM TIMER CHALLENGE 2
After defeating the boss at the secret flower field, a scarecrow will appear at the Forest Charging Station. Toss Cappy at it and make it to the top of these moving platforms to get this moon.
39. FLOODING PIPEWAY
Just north of the Iron Road: Entrance warp point is a lake that hides the above warp pipe. Inside this pipe is an area filled with water and enemies. It’s pretty straightforward, and all you need to do to find the moon there is reach the exit.
40. FLOOD PIPEWAY CEILING SECRET
In the same area where you’re hunting for moon 39, pay attention to this platform with three coins. If you look up, you’ll notice a gap in the ceiling. Perform a backflip by crouching then jumping, and then wall jump into the room above to find this hidden moon.
41. WANDERING IN THE FOG
Capture the rocket in the Forest Charging Station area to fly to a special area with flying Goombas, tons of fog and five moon shards to find.
You’ll find the first two right on the platform you start on: The first you’ll immediately run into as you move forward, and the second is down on the platform to your right. From there, move left up the path and you’ll find the third between the flying Goombas. From there, locate the lone platform in the fog. Fly to that then follow the coins to another lone platform for the fourth shard. Make your way back to the starting area and head beneath it to find the final shard under the platform.
42. NUT HIDDEN IN THE FOG
While looking for moon shards for power moon 41, you’ll find a platform adjacent to the starting platform. It has three coins on its far side. While flying around as a Goomba, descend from there and you’ll see a nut hiding on a concrete platform right below the coins. Break it for a power moon.
43. Flower Road Run
Instead of using the flowers to run up the large incline near the Summit Path warp point, run down the narrow path to the right of it. Behind the incline, you’ll find a small area where you can wall jump to reach a higher area. From there, you’ll find a door leading you to this puzzle room. Dodge Goombas and hit the P-Switches to activate the flower path. Keep going until the end, and you’ll find this moon waiting for you.
44. Flower Road Reach
In the process of getting power moon 43, instead of dodging Goombas capture one and begin stacking them. Once the flower path hits this tower and comes out the other end, jump up and out of your Goomba stack to grab this moon.
45. Elevator Escalation
Warp to the Summit Path area and use a flower to run up the path. Instead of going left and into the next area, stick to the right edge and you should make your way to a platform containing the entrance to a puzzle room. From there, capture a Sherm and fight your way through each of the elevator’s floors to find the moon at the end.
46. Elevator Blind Spot
In the same area as power moon 45, after capturing the Sherm but before you hit the P-Switch to go down, turn around. You’ll see a stone block. Shoot it to reveal this power moon.
47. WALKING ON CLOUDS
This one requires a few steps. First warp over to the Observation Deck. From there, go to the robot that will hand you a seed and walk to the opposite end of the deck to reach the P-Switch. Hit it and, while still carrying the seed, make your way to the top of the structure. From there, you’ll find a pot that requires the seed you just retrieved. Throw it in and climb the plant to the puzzle room above. From there, make your way to the end of the series of moving platforms to get this moon.
48. ABOVE THE CLOUDS
On your quest to get power moon 47, keep an eye out for the shadow pictured above on the last platform before you exit this puzzle room. Extend as high as you can with the Uproot to grab the moon above your head.
49. Secret Path to the Steam Gardens
Super Mario Odyssey’s warp paintings are incredibly confusing. They seem to change from game to game in a way that, thus far, we can’t explain. (In fact, we’re perfectly open to the possibility that at least some of them are random, which would explain our consternation.) So we’re going to do two things here: show you how we found this secret path, and show you a gallery of all warp painting locations in the game.
The good news is that the locations of the paintings don’t change. However, the painting you see in a kingdom may be different. For example, we saw a painting of the Luncheon Kingdom in Wooded Kingdom. You may not. If that’s the case, check out the gallery below and make your way to another kingdom.
From Metro Kingdom
In our game, where we traveled to Lake Kingdom before Wooded Kingdom, the painting near the Odyssey warped us to Wooded Kingdom and this power moon.
All painting locations in all kingdoms
The gallery above shows the locations of all warp paintings in Super Mario Odyssey. There’s a pattern, too: The first image shows you where you’ll stand on the map facing the painting, while the second image shows you what the painting looks like.
50. Found with Wooded Kingdom Art
On a tree south of the Odyssey, you’ll find Hint Art. Warp to the Sand Kingdom, and make your way to the Koopa who wants you to walk in a circle. (It’s in the southeast. See the map in the gallery above for the precise location.) From there, you’ll need to walk all the way to the northeastern edge of the Sand Kingdom, where you’ll find the two shrubs that the Hint Art refers to. Ground pound there for your power moon.
51. Swing Around Secret Flower Field
Warp to the Secret Flower Field, and veer left as you walk away from the flag and out into the open area. Climb the nearby gold pipe. Follow the wall up and over the entrance to the Secret Flower Field, and climb down another gold pipe. Jump from the crumbling platforms, swing around the bars, grab the key, hit the P-Switch and follow the flower road to your power moon.
52. Jammin’ in the Wooded Kingdom
Warp to Summit Path and head west, hopping down. Talk to Toad near the stream and he’ll say he wants to hear “Sky-high coins aplenty!” Play track 76, “Above the Clouds,” to get your power moon.
53. Wooded Kingdom Regular Cup
There’s one great shortcut to give you a big lead in this race. From the starting line, turn left and jump over the railing. You’ll skip a big section and come out ahead. Then it’s just about execution — and as you can see in the video above, the shortcut buys you so much time that you can make more than one mistake and still win.
54. Peach in the Wooded Kingdom
Warp to Summit Path, and head up ramp. Turn right, hit the P-Switch, and follow the patrons to the top of the structure. At the top, you’ll find Princess Peach and a power moon.
After the moon rock
The following power moons are available after you finish the campaign and smash the moon rock.
55. High Up in the Cave
This power moon is, well, high up in the cave that the Sphynx originally guarded. Pass through the cave, take over an Uproot and return for your power moon.
56. Lost in the Tall Trees
Warp to the Observation Deck and use Cappy on the Glydon. Look down at the trees in the southwest for a wooden box. Glide there and smash it for this power moon.
57. Looking Down on the Goombas
Warp to the Observation Deck and use Cappy on the Glydon. Look west for a seed perched atop of a ledge. Glide down and smash it for this power moon.
58. High Up on a Rock Wall
Warp to Iron Road: Entrance and make your way south (which is in front of where you warp). Use Cappy on an Uproot, and jump on top of the three gray blocks before the maze. Break the seed above them for this power moon.
59. The Nut in the Robot Storeroom
Warp to Iron Road: Entrance and make your way south (which is in front of where you warp). Use Cappy on an Uproot, and go to the room where you planted a seed to grow a beanstalk. Break the nut above the door for this power moon.
60. Above the Iron Mountain Path
Warp to the Observation Deck and use Cappy on the Glydon. Look down and northwest to see the power moon. Glide down to get it.
61. The Nut Under the Observation Deck
Warp to Iron Mountain Path, Station 8 and capture an Uproot. Walk up the ramp, turn right, pass the P-Switch and turn right into the corner before the railing. Stretch to bash the invisible blocks in the corner. Jump on them and stretch again for this power moon.
62. Bird Traveling the Forest
Warp to Iron Road: Entrance and head north, jumping off onto the platform where the P-Switch is (and picking up the purple coins on your way). Wait here until you see a glowing bird fly by. Hit it with Cappy to get your power moon.
63. Invader in the Sky Garden
Warp to Shy Garden Tower and walk up the stairs. In the arena at the top, you’ll find a new enemy. To defeat it, capture Goombas, jump onto its big, purple center and ground pound it. After a couple of butt stomps, it’ll die and give you a power moon.
64. Hot, Hot, Hot from the Campfire
Warp to Iron Road: Entrance, and head north to find a Luncheon Kingdom fork character who says, “I need fire to cook with.” You’ll need to light it, and for that you’ll need a Fire Bro. Make your way back to the area around the Odyssey and navigate up to the area on top of the waterfall. Follow the river until you find the Fire Bro in the gallery above. Use Cappy to capture it, and then make your way back to the Luncheon Kingdom dude. Shoot a fireball at the wood to get this power moon.
65. Wooded Kingdom Timer Challenge 3
Warp to Iron Mountain Path Station 8, and hop over the railing to your west. Throw Cappy on the scarecrow, and make your way across the platforms that appear.
66. Moon Shards in the Forest
Warp to Iron Road: Entrance and make your way to the maze. Inside, there are five power moon pieces to collect. Check out the gallery above to see their positions. The only other piece of advice we have for you will save you some pain: Leave the Uproot you entered in and use Cappy to switch to the Uproot inside of the maze. It’s easier to switch than to avoid it.
67. Taking Notes: On Top of the Wall
Warp to the Odyssey, and climb up to the wall that encompasses this area. You’ll see a treble clef as you walk on top of the wall. Roll down the wall, collecting each of the notes along the way to get this power moon. There’s no great trick to this one, honestly. Just try it a few times, testing how much you’ll need to adjust your analog stick so that you don’t fall off the wall.
68. Taking Notes: Stretching
Warp to Iron Mountain Path, Station 8 and jump down over the railing to the northwest. Go past the scarecrow, drop down again and capture an Uproot. Stretch up to the nearby ledge and once more to another ledge. Hit the treble clef and collect the musical notes for this power moon.
69. Wooded Kingdom Master Cup
Like every master cup in Super Mario Odyssey, winning requires you to use shortcuts and Mario’s advanced moves. Here’s how to do that:
- Turn left immediately, and jump over the railing for a shortcut.
- Ground pound and then jump immediately to get extra height and skip the vertically moving platforms.
- Use the Uproot to skip a jump.
- Jump, throw Cappy, jump off of Cappy, throw Cappy again and dive to skip the maze.
Those are the bullet points. Press play above to see them all in action.
70. I Met an Uproot!
Warp to Iron Road: Entrance and capture an Uproot. Go through the maze, trigger the P-Switch and follow the flower path. Walk across the crumbling platforms and speak to the Bonneter to get your power moon.
71. Invisible Road: Danger! and 72. Invisible Road: Hidden Room
Warp to Secret Flower Field Entrance and enter what looks like the top of a gray chimney. Although the platforms you’ll need to run on are invisible, there’s plenty of purple goo to tell you exactly where they are. Use Cappy to take out the Piranha Plants, and stick to the paths where the goo is. There are two power moons to capture here:
- Power moon 71: Make your way across the invisible platforms to the far end of the room and kill the two big Piranha Plants.
- Power Moon 72 (pictured above) :Make your way to the rotating platform in the center of the room, and search the walls for a small hole. Walk across the invisible ground straight at the hole to enter a room with the power moon.
73. Herding Sheep Above the Forest Fog and 74. Herding Sheep on the Iron Bridge
These can be among the most frustrating power moons to collect in Super Mario Odyssey. Check out the video above to see how we did it and read the text below for more explanation.
In short, there’s an invisible area around the sheep that determines where it moves. Move close to it slowly, and when the sheep starts walking, you’ll be able to identify this invisible circle. Stand to the sheep’s left, and it’ll move right. Stand to the sheep’s right, and it’ll move left. The idea is to gently and methodically coax the sheep where it needs to go.
Only use Cappy when you’re sure there’s enough room in front of the sheep to ensure that it won’t fly off to its death. (Note that, when the sheep lands, it’ll run for a bit, too.) When you hit the sheep with Cappy, it’ll follow the direction that you threw your hat. As you’ll see in the video above, we were very careful to make sure that the line between Mario and the sheep was ended over solid ground. If your aim is off, the sheep will veer out into horrible places
- Power moon 73: The hardest part about getting this power moon is figuring out where to hit the sheep to knock it up to the higher platform. The answer: when it’s right on the edge. The moment that it seems like it’s about to walk off to its death, hit it with Cappy.
- Power moon 74: Hop down off the side of the platform where you put the first sheep, and enter the warp pipe. Coax the sheep to the center of the new platform, aligned with the P-Switch behind it. Hit it with Cappy and run behind it, keeping the sheep walking in the center of the platform. Hit it again with Cappy when it’s near the edge to get it into its goal.
75. Down and Back Breakdown Road and 76. Below Breakdown Road
Warp to Iron Road: Entrance and enter the what looks like the top of a gray chimney near vertically moving columns. There are two power moons to capture here.
- Power moon 75: Run past all of the Bullet Bills to the far end of the area. Collect the key, and a power moon will spawn back by where you started.
- Power moon 76: After you collect the key, drop down off the side of the upper level. You’ll land on a lower platform with another gigantic Bonzai Bill. Capture it with Cappy, and speed your way back to the beginning of the level. While still controlling the Bonzi Bill, smash the brown bricks inside of the blue wall you, and you’ll find the power moon behind it.
